Biochemistry is the branch of sciencethat brings together biology and chemistry; it explores the various molecules that occur in living organisms and their environment, with their chemical reactions and processes.
Importance
It mainly emphases on the processes that occurs at molecular level inside the cells by reviewing the components such as proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids and organelles.
It also focuses at how cells communicate with each other during growth, development as well as in disease condition.

Biochemistry at President Science College
We offer B.Sc. Biochemistry along with combination of Zoology and Chemistry as well as with Physics and Chemistry. President Science College has well equipped laboratories which have all subject related instruments like, Laminar Air Flow, Autoclave, Hot air oven, Incubator, Waterbath, Centrifuge, Microfuge, Analytical Balance, Gel Electrophoresis unit, Transilluminator, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, pH Meter, Rotary Shakers, BOD incubator etc. Excellent teaching (in well-equipped classrooms) and course oriented training is provided by the college, which is accompanied by short industrial/institutional visits related to the subject during the course.
