The Department of Chemistry, established in August, 2015. The department is enriched by a dedicated and well qualified team of staff members.

One of our key objectives is to create good quality human resource. The Department offers core courses in chemistry for undergraduate B.Sc. students. The Chemistry is widest branch of science, which provides a strong background in all major areas of chemistry: physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry and industrial chemistry. Students may concentrate in one or more of the above areas by taking advanced courses in areas of specific interest. The department is adequately equipped with state-of-art analytical facilities to carry out modern day chemistry.

Students are required to learn to use instruments commonly encountered in chemistry laboratories. Classes are prevalent in all chemistry courses, and students are taught by faculty in both lecture as well as laboratory. Special topics courses are offered periodically to provide students the opportunity to broaden their background in chemistry.

Chemistry majors are prepared to pursue many different careers after graduation, including graduate study in chemistry and related areas, employment in government or industry, professional school (e.g., medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, library science), or secondary school teaching. Other employment opportunities are available to Chemistry majors, including those in water pollution, forensic chemistry, environmental chemistry, molecular biology, research and development, quality assurance and genetic engineering.

Several members of the faculty have been elected as fellows of various scientific academies and some have been awarded medals/prizes for distinction in their areas of research. The Department offers a vibrant atmosphere to students and faculty to nurture the spirit of scientific inquiry and to pursue cutting-edge research in a highly encouraging environment.
